Default Mudding supplies

Just got absolutely buried in my 2000 XJ sport almost all stock with a 3.5in lift on 31s all original motor tranny and axles and I need some help finding a nice needed tool to help when this happens again. Anything helps just don't want to break my bank that's all.

A hi lift jack or come-along could help with self recovery. Not as expensive as a winch either.

Trailer hitch and front tow hooks so you can be pulled out easier.

Yup! Depending on where you live, a hatchet works great for cutting small branches to throw under the tires... winch is the best though.

There are times that I still have to use my Hi-Lift jack along with my winch to get out of a bad spot. As far as I'm concerned a Hi-Lift jack is a must have on any off road XJ or even any one that's lifted just to change a tire.

They have too many uses not to have one on the trail mine has been used to pull out sheet metal and straighten bent parts, could be used ion case of an accident to help extract someone from a roll over where the top caved in badly and doors were jammed. I have a sheet metal cutter for mine if I ever need it for anything also plus other tools for it.

Mud ramps, can give you just enough purchase and firm ground for self-extraction.

That wouldn't help in mud holes around here.

True that!
Guess they are more for expedition stuff where you are picking your way through, not actually Mudding. And where only one axle or side is stuck.
I use then around here for incidents in spongy soil or saturated sink-sands, or being stuck in a ditch. lol

Just figured out that old snowmobile tracks with the metal studs work pretty well, just gotta make sure that the studs are not facing up at your tires

Anytime you have one in the mud like that you need to change the fluids in the differentials and check the transfer case for water/mud in it also. Most generally comes in past the3 seals or vent tube.

If you're gonna play in the mud, I highly suggest one of these:
