I have buddies who drive around with 33's and 35's with no flares and trimmed fenders with no mudflaps and haven't gotten pulled over for it. It all depends if Mr. Officer is in a bad mood or not. But they CAN pull you over for it if you do not have mud flaps or flares.

No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread. This section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from registration, trailers and semitrailers having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds, or any vehicles manufactured and first registered prior to January 1, 1971, having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds.

If or when you get pulled over or get conscious about them, these mudflaps are highly recommended by me

I have that setup with no flares (sacramento area). law requires you to cover all tread with flares and use mud flaps. I got pulled over the other night but it was for my windshield and to complain about no doors. no citation. only time I've heard of someone local getting crap for no flaps on his xj is when he cut and folded the rear quarters and drove around with no bumper (once again, no citation). the gamble is up to you

It really depends on the cop. In my area, cops don't really care. They focus on the ricers. My bro goes with out fender flare and wide *** tires, and he doesn't get harassed.

Found one from the side. I went out to take one from the back, but it is dark and raining. I could only get the flash to light them up from close up.
