Default MSD or High Output Coil?

has anyone installed an MSD and/or a high output coil and if so what is your experience with it?

I have made this mod on vehicles I owned in the past with minor improvements, but I am not sure of anyone has experienced reliability issues (or other issues) when installing these components on a jeep.

If you have a good stock unit I don't think you would see any improvement at all with all else being stock.

I have a MSD. The only reason I bought it is because it was part of Kolak's ignition kit. Was it worth the money? Probably not. The only benefit is I can gap the plugs a little larger which isn't really noticeable.

MSD's coil is a 40,000 volt unit. Accel's is a 42,000 volt unit. D.U.I's Screamin' Demon coil is a 45,000 volt unit. If you run any of these, you should upgrade the wires to 9-11mm, go with a QUALITY cap and rotor, and gap your plugs to .040-.045"

After all that, you're probably not going to see any real improvement unless you're running a stroker with mid-grade fuel or above.

That being said, I don't see why you'd experience any NEGATIVE effects as far as reliability goes with upgrading to a hotter spark. These engines are 8.8:1 compression ratio and not at all fragile.
