MPG increase............or total BS?
http://www.quadratec.com/products/27000_900.htm
From Trucks and vans website: Reviewer: Anonymous person from Las Vegas Its not a night and day difference but I am probably getting an extra 1 mpg saves me about $6.00 week in gas so it pays for itself fairly quickly
From JC Whitney: "Installed this in my ford tarus wagon 1999 with 50K. Went to Virginia beach 256 mile trip. 90% on interstate. Filed the tank full before leaving and then refilled the tank at the beach.
I used 10.1 gallons of fuel to travel 256 miles. Or 25.3 miles per gallon. This is a 2 mile per gallon increase over previous trips with the same car. So far the divice has paid for it's self."

My friend bought one of the tornado things like that that came out a few years ago thinking it would work when all of us told him it wouldnt. The only thing that came from it was the most annoying whistling sound in the world. I got a cold air set up in my heep and it whistles but his was so bad i thought it sounded like a blower. POS. dont waste your money

It is all about flow dynamics. With air in/out, you want it to be as smooth as possible. This is why you pay more for mandral bent vs kinked exhaust, because it flows better. What this "tornado" effect does is disrupt the air flow.
imagine a 2 litre bottle of soda/water. When you flip it upside down it pours out in a slpashing manor, and takes a certain amount of time. This is caused by the air having to equalize the pressure inside by rushing in. We will call this factory stock.
Same bottle upside down, but this time you give it a spin. The water swirls around inside the bottle creating the "tornado" effect. this ads to the overall length that the water has to travel, thus it takes longer to get out of the bottle. We will call this the "Tornado"
Hold the bottle on its side or at an angle so that it flows smoothly and still allows the maximum amount of air to rush in without creating turbulence. The bottle will empty faster. Now, cut the top opening bigger. This would be porting, bigger throttle body.
Ok now cut a hole in the bottom of the bottle. Blow into the bottm as you pour it out, thus forcing the water out, and thats the forced air induction.
Anyway the whole point is that SMOOTHER FLOW IS FASTER so why put something in that would disrupt a smooth flow?

Speaking of gas mileage increase, I saw this cold air intake on Ebay for $35. Would that help with the gas mileage. The K & Ns are nice, but for 300 dollars, you can buy a lot of gas...

With cold air intakes you have to have access to just that, Cold air. Alot of people put them on and although there is an increase in air flow, theres also the factor that your pulling Hot air from under an already hot engine bay. You might see a marginal at best, increase in MPG but unless you can pull the colder, more dense air, it just wounds up being minimal imporvements.
theres a restrictor in the stoch factory box that you can pull out. It reduces the noise from the air going into the intake. Take that out and youll get a little better MPG along with a reduction in weight while saving 35 dollars to use for gas. Youll also get the same sound.
heres a link to another person who did this.

Those things are a ripoff. As stated above if they worked all cars would have them from the factory.
Hell you could make that out of a thin piece of sheet metal in about 5 minutes with a pair of snips.
