Default Motor and transmission labor cost

I'm wondering if this is a good price, my mechanic said he will charge me to put in a motor and transmission in my 2001 jeep Cherokee sport for $1,100 labor cost, but he says I have to buy the oil and fluids and stuff. Is this a good price???

Not knowing where you live hard to tell could be cheap or way to high in my area would be a bit on the high side by about 3-$400 supplying fluids.

Have you shopped around?

And how did you go from a bad O2 sensor, clogged heater core, possible bad fuses, to a complete drivetrain swap? LOL

What? I don't follow this post.

You want to swap engine and transmission because... why?

Just because I want a new motor and a transmission since I have a lot of miles, I know that these xj run easy 300,000 miles but since I'm getting a paint job ect I want to invest in it.

Around here that's about 500 bucks plus fluids and gaskets. But it's your money. If you trust the guy and want it done go for it.

How long do you wear a pair of shoes for? Three months?

Your drivetrain is fine. Spend your money on something useful.

If you have the money for a drivetrain swap i say go ahead its your rig and your obviously going to have less issues in the long run.

salad, I get what your saying, the reason is I invested so much money in this truck because I bought it from someone else and didn't realize all the problems he had in it. I can list so much stuff but rather not. I figure a nice satin black paint job, rebuilt motor with transmission will value my truck good money but I wouldn't sell it anyways.

the motor alone is $1,600 rebuilt and a trans is $500 why not as long as I know I'll be safe in repairs on the long run.
