Default Motor and tranny swap
Okay, so I have a 96 jeep xj 4.0 that I was thinking of putting my motor and transmission in another xj, will my motor and transmission fit in 97 and up models? Or will I have to make modifications?

Several things changed in 97 but I can't remember what they were concerning an engine swap from an older year.

Engine will be easy.

There's something about a change in the Vehicle Speed Sensor in the trans though.

Motor will fit. Transmission won't work right.

Swap accessories and components on to the 96 block as needed.

Yep. If the tranny in it now is okay, just go with that.
