this one.
i followed this ******* for almost 8500 miles and 5 weeks. besides one random, completely out of the ordinary break (well, two.. same thing twice.. was a faulty repair) i watched this thing do everything my XJ could and more. then continue after wheeling the hardest trails in the country and driving home continue to be a reliable daily driver for months... without a wrench being turned on it.
so i built my new jeep with this one as a sort of baseline... took it's (albeit few) weaknesses and improved on them.

Sweet but does not look very capable in my environment. Although in Russia that this g would be awesome.
I saw a sick xj last time I wheeled. Running 3" of lift and 42" Creepies, bead locks, cage, totally set up.

definitely one of the hardest pushed XJ's that still has a uniframe and full body. so this is my vote. and he's had it for 10 years

I suppose capabilities are completely subject to the environment. No doubt that thing in its element can run circles around my xj for example. But my xj does not share the same environment. I do envy the ability it has to ignore the hazardous surroundings. Where with my xj I would not want to break any glass. LOL
But taking that thing on a expedition through some of the terrain I go on would Be impossible. Its not set up for my environment.
Which makes it cool because we can see each extreme.

how should it be set up any different? put some pitbull tires on it and it will go through any terrain you can think of
but you're right I think the word capable is impossible to pinpoint here. so I defined it by how hard of a beating it took and still held up after "x" amount of years. not by where it can wheel
