Default Modifying Mickey Thompson sidebiters

Ok so I just ordered a set of Mickey Thompson side biter wheels and want to modify them so they look similar to the green jeep XJ pictured on bushwackers flat style fender flares XJ ad. I know he just sanded and polished them but I've never done anything like this. Any advice on how? What sandpaper grit? etc.?
Just search google for pics

Tape off where you don't wanna sand, start off with 400 grit work your way to 1000 grit, then 1500 wet. then get a bottle of chrome polish and go to town. polish to desired sparkly-ness.

only problem is you will have to constantly have to polish them to keep the oxidation at bay. might be more work than its worth.

Yeah I thought about that. Think if I just took it down to bare metal and then primed it and then used a metallic paint to get it to shine that would work better? Sorry don't have any experience painting

well the way I described it doesn't involve painting. If you were going to paint them, tape off where you don't want paint, sand with 600 grit, wipe clean with a tac cloth and spray with desired color. do light coats to prevent runs. keep the can 8-12 inches from the surface.
