Default Misfiring Help

Ok I have a 96xj that I swapped in a 98 wrangler engine into. It's starts and idles fine but when you go to give it gas it starts to misfire and pop. I have pulled the distributor and re-verified timing and gone threw and wire brushed all the grounds. I swapped out the cps this morning with no change. It appears to be running rich because the manifold gets extremely hot very fast.

MAP secure?

Manifold could be getting hot from running lean or backfiring into the intake. Not rich
