All right now we have a new problem.

My 92 4.0 sometimes will not crank the first try. In fact it will have no power at all, headlights don't work, nothing. If I unhook the battery it will crank right up. Gauge says battery is around 12. Could it be the cables? Starter going out? I don't understand why it would take me unhooking the battery.

check all the grounds on the block, but sounds like a bad lead cable or ground. Are the terminals on the battery clean and tight? How old is the battery?

I will check them. I'm not sure how old the battery is, it was in there when I got it in February. It looks old. The terminals aren't the best in the world, it could probably use new cables. I'll be getting those soon.
I just wasn't sure if this was indicative of any of issue so I don't have to start throwing money at it haha.

Although this wasn't an issue until I attempted resetting my ECU. I was looking for the correct method, saw thousands of them, so I tried a combination.
I unplugged the positive, unplugged the negative, touched them together, let them sit unhooked not touching for 30+ seconds, reconnected the negative, grounded out the positive for 30+ seconds on the ac compressor, hooked the positive up, BAM no power.

Checked the CEL and it says code 41: Open or shorted condition in the generator control circuit. WTF does that mean???
