Smile This might be my XJ

Ok so my patience is paying off, Ive found this XJ bout an hour away that I'm going to test drive tomorrow and possibly purchase it if I like it enough.

http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/1659726646.html

What would you offer him, considering the following conditions:
Has 85,000mi, as far as he knows they are original
Needs O2 sensor
Has cracked windshield
Sunroof is not working, leak is possible (is this a hard fix problem?)
And there was a DVD system taken out so theres a hole in the head liner

Anyways, I'm super excited to go see it and possibly buy it, Let me know if its good deal and where to start my offers (considering everything else is ok)

Damn good for 3k i'd say. but you will just have to see when you drive it. pictures and words can only mean so much until you actually drive it and see how it handles.

yeah...not bad for the mileage. but with all the quirks you listed, i would offer the seller first $2400 and then the max i would go is $2800.

Ya, I test drove a '98 ZJ v8 and the thing rode like a piece, but in the pics and words it looked awesome.

I believe the lesson learned is "Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Now you have time to search around for something that needs less work though which brings you to the lesson of "Every cloud has a silver lining"

Here's one that caught my eye in your local craigslist http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/1616122546.html . Don't be scared off by 139,000 miles. This engine is still a baby considering they go 300,000 plus miles. It looks fairly clean and the 2 doors seem to be harder to come by these days.

Went and looked at it after he bought it, definitely not a beauty by no means. He ran across is on CL, so posting it here didnt have an effect on its sale if you were going to go check it out

-the roof is in kinda bad shape, needs to be sanded and repainted, nothing to major up there.
-rear passenger door has a nice rust spot that needs to be fixed, maybe replace the door.
-sunroof is a POS, were thinking about just making it a window type of deal if its to hard to fix (aftermarket so hard to find parts I imagine).
-The hole in the headliner is defiantly nasty but theres a few headliners to choose from at the local junkyard that will make the hole disappear.
-Tires are 3 different brands and most are worn down pretty far, he wants to lift it and throw some 31's under it, so thats not really anything that he wasnt going to change anyway.

the wiring is terrible for whatever he had in there. theres a few chopped up extension cords used as wires that go to nothing... definetly gona need some work but nothing to hard to fix, unless theres something he didnt see yet.
