I may be picking up a second XJ, this one is a '90 limited for my wife. Any thing on those models in particular I should be inspecting when I go to check it out? Sounds like it needs basic tune up stuff which I would expect. Has 119k miles on the I6.
Renix:
No CEL, 5 Sec+ crank time normal, Vac Disconnect Front axle with 231 can be problematic but is easy to lock, 177hp 224ft lb. d35, but itll be ok for daily driving. D44 is a possibility.
Also, keep in mind that it uses a Metric threaded oil filter, not standard thread.
NAPA filter no. 1626
Very easy to work on, if you buy it I would do an oil change with a good diesel oil, diff fluid, Tcase fluid (DEXIII), oxygen sensor (needs to be changed every 88000 mi), and other tuneup stuff.
Check the pressure bottle for cracks, if it is cracked, buy a new one.
Renixs are very reliable and will give you no trouble if you take care of them.
