The Jeep bug bit me hard enough to make me want to sell me previous love... my 77 Cutlass. That car was my baby, I planned on being it's final owner.

...but then I met my 00 XJ. It came in on trade at the dealership I work at. The old owner loved it, but could cope with the gas mileage, so he traded up for a small fuel efficient car.

I knew I had to buy the XJ... so I took out a loan, secured the XJ before anyone else could buy it, and sold my other daily driver.

Well, the economy is rough right now as I'm sure everyone is aware... and long story short, it came down to this decision: Sell the Jeep and get a cheaper daily driver and KEEP my 77 Cutlass, or sell my Cutlass and keep the Jeep.

I'm a muscle car fan. I LOVE muscle cars. The 77 Cutlass isn't exactly a muscle car, but it had all the essential parts: giant engine bay, full frame and rigid, solidly built parts. All it needed was the strong motor, which mine had. So it was a "muscle car" in it's own right.

I never thought I'd be an off roader, or better yet, I never thought I'd give up my "muscle" car for the sake of getting into Jeeping, but... I guess that just goes to show how great XJ's really are. The fact that I was able to fall in love with mine enough to feel comfortable selling the car I spent countless hours trying to perfect... that says a lot.

What things have you all given up in order to support your love affair with your Jeep(s)?

 

I grew up in a farm,always loved my dads 89 f-250. Thought it was the coolest truck in the world and had more power then anything. I turned 14 and was given the truck, did some minor stuff to it and came across a zj for a steal- needless to say I sold the truck to buy a lift and tires for the jeep. My second jeep I bought because the first one had the tranny go out, so a new build started. Took it out to little moab and blew the tranny out in that one as well. At the same time I also had a Honda accord, well I couldn't stand to see the jeep sit and even tho it got about 8 mpg and my Honda got about 32, I sold the Honda to buy a tranny so the jeep could live once more. I have also lost a couple girlfriends due to spending to much time on my jeep and not enough time with them ha, but that's okay cause my jeep is my baby
