I understand why it was never installed after owning one a number of years ago on a truck (1980's).

Did you have issues with yours? I've been looking for information on one for a while but none seems to turn up.

I've had one on both of my XJ's. It came on my first XJ when i bought it and i loved the look. Was dark green, then i got a white XJ. Sanded, primed, and painted and looks good on the white one now. Ive never had an issue with it in the 5 years ive had it. Just gotta be careful when you mount it. Put down caulk then put the visor on, then more caulk in the holes, screw it on, then add more caulk.

Never use caulk use seam sealer its made to go on a car and will out last caulk by 20 years.

Depends on what kind of caulk you use. I've never used the sealer that your talking about so can't really comment on that. I used lap sealant that is designed for rubber roofing, its rated at 40 years. Figured it would out live my Cherokee.
