Parts for factory swing away tire carriers dried up long ago.
I'm looking into having some parts reproduced that are usually worn out and missing when a tire carrier comes up for sale.
The hinge bolts & bushings are always worn. The two brackets that are inside and behind the bumper along with the reinforcement that goes on the inside of the lift gate are missing 99.9% of the time.
It's just as easy to have 10 made as it is 1
Anyone interested ?

If you have a micrometer or caliper accurate measurements of the carrier holes the bronze swing pivot hinge bushings go in to and the bolts that go through the bushings would help a lot. I had to use PB Blaster and a powerful impact to get the bolts out of mine. The bolts are T-55 Torx.

I think the pile of parts that came with my Jeep included all the parts except the plate inside the gate. At some point I'll have to solve this. And I'll also have to solve the license plate relocation.
At some point I might try to put a '96 and down tire carrier on my '00.
Was thinking the license plate relocation was the least of my problems. LOL.
Sure there is some aftermarket generic thing that would work.
There is this but thinking not worth it.

They can be accurately reproduced to spec but the cost would be sky high.
That could be outsourced to China like almost all aftermarket goods. To have some made in China that could almost pass as original would require a substantial initial investment in tooling. and a minimum run of 2,000 units. It could take two years with no guaranteed delivery date.
I hunted down one carrier. The hinge bolts & bushings are shot and it's missing a couple minor pieces. I hunted down a second incomplete carrier to increase the pool of deets & dimms for reference.
There's still one piece left to aquire and mic out but I'm on the hunt. Then I can turn out a set of completion & service parts.

I guess I could make that plate relocate bit in a few minutes with my tools and have a good deal more than $60 worth of fun doing it, but it was helpful to see a pic to kick my design brain cell off the bench.
Factory tire carrier have always been highly practical and highly desirable. New, they were a crazy expensive seldom ordered option. Now, they are highly sought and stupid expensive when you can find them.

I'm also looking for part number 8350-7112 (the bushing package) any ideas?
