so a local dealership has a 87 jeep cherokee 4.0 auto 4x4... it has 185000 miles and they want 4500 for it... the body has some paint flaking and i give it a 8/10 and the interior is in good shape for a 87 the driver seat sits crooked but not bad and theres no headliner and its got the stock cassette player but it works lol i give the interior a 7/10... i test drove it around for about 1.5 miles and let it idle for about 10mins after i saw no leaks and it didnt overheat... it has a rancho suspension lift maybe 2-3 in. and 31 in mud kings with 95% thread... 4wd high and low work good from what i could tell... i got it up to about 45 and it didnt wobble or nothing... the gauges are a little off.. and the heat works great and ac works good... i really like the body style of this model and cant find on around here thats closeer to stock than this (i wanna do all the lift and everything myself)... what im trying to figure is if that is a good price or do i need to keep looking? ive tryed to describe it the best i can so you guys can get the pic of what im looking at.. well any help is appreciated thanks

 

I personally wouldn't buy it for that much, if you wanna do the work yourself I would look for one thats completely stock from a private seller. You should be able to find one in the $2000 or less range with around the same miles and stuff. Or you could always try to talk them down.

 

so this will be my first jeep but i know alll the carriers at work use them but in yallls opinion is there to many miles on it? are they still reliable with a lot of miles? basically all the ones ive seen have been over the 150,000 mile marker so any input on that

 

I wouldn't be worried about the miles, these engines can go way higher than that if well maintained. Around here one like you described would sell for around $2000 or less.

Yeah, that seems like WAY to much.. I was looking at a stock 99' with less miles for that price and I'm in south Florida. I'd definitely keep looking if I were you
