Looked at a 96 today!
So I have seen this jeep on craigslist for a while and i decided to click on the ad the other day. I found out it was a dealer so i went and looked at it today while nobody was around. Here it is

It looks better in person but there is some problems. the paint does match well on the other fender it must have just been funky lighting.
-fender is crunched up, they might have fixed it a lil bit but idk
-RUST rocker panels, rear bumper, very front of drivers floor pan(common stuff)
-cracked windshield nothing major, broken hood release cable
-horrible stereo install lol ive seen pretty bad but this one through a cherry on the manure pile!!
-transfer case might leak, when i looked under there there was an oil spot, it did not look fresh though.
So what do you guys think? I am looking for a fun project since i am only 15.

For the mileage, the price is great. The leak may actually be the oil pan gasket. A couple hours of your time, or a couple hundred bucks at a shop.
The rust is the real issue. Search the forums for what a pain in the @ss it is to replace rusted out rockers, and you might think twice.

For the rocker rust my plan was to cut it out and fab up some sliders. too bad it doesnt have the ax 15 in it, if it did i would have it already. I talked to my dads friend who bought a truck from them to hunt and fish with and he said the guy is good(to the point and not the normal used car salesman crook lol)

If it drives out ok jump on that deal but have someone go with you that has a vg knowledge of SUV's engines, trans, transfer cases, differentials to check them out for you. The mileage is good for its age and it looks like it will clean up fairly well, the rust can be gone at several different ways.
In other words BUY IT NOW!!! I would for sure if it checked out.

I can get a 98 xj for 800 or 900 bucks. 98% rust free, runs good, lots of power. valve cover leaks, hopefully that's what is dripping off the bottom end. slight tick, sounds like one of the rocker arms. all the gauges read good. power windows working too. now will all my parts off my 91 fit a 98? I also have 4 rust free doors from a 89, I don't need them yet though. any suggestions or opinions? sorry wrong section.

I have no idea if they will fit^^^ i think you might be able to swap the front doors.
Hopefully going to test drive it and buy it if everything turns out well.
Be ready for a new build thread if all goes well!!
