Default Locker Questions???

Sorry for the long story leading up to the questions, if you wanna skip it, the questions are at the bottom i just put a 4" lift and 31's on my cherokee, and im happy with the way it sets, but yesterday, when 'testing it out' i got stuck in deep snow, while going between a small drainage on a good off road trail i know....and the front left and back right tires that were spinning, were both OFF THE GROUND, while the other two were down solid, not moving so needless to say, after an hour of trying to dig frozen dirt out from under my two 'lazy' tires, so i could get the other spinning ones on the ground, i gave up and called a friend with his truck to come give me a pull. it made me feel a little better, cuz he got stuck 3 times just following my trail getting to where i was, and we had to dig snow to get him out but when he got to me, a little pull and i was out. but anyway, after this fiasco, i had a light bulb moment. I NEED LOCKERS. so, my questions are as follows:

1. I have a D 30 front, and a chrysler 8.25 rear, and stock gearing. what, in your guys opinion, what are the best lockers as far as quality/price?

2. Do lockers effect the highway manners of the vehicle? this is my daily driver, will putting lockers on it have adverse affects on town driving/mall crawling that i do in conjuction with my trail driving?

3. Do lockers have any effects on gas mileage?

thanks for any help guys, my jeep is a build in progress, i wanna have as good of an off road vehicle as i can, and still have a daily driver

I would go with the Powertrax No-spin in rear and the aussie/lockrite in front. IMO...Tj

I would do Aussie front. And for your rear, if its a 27 spline, powertrax lock right. If its a 29 spline Aussie.

Just a note, 29 spline 8.25 Aussie's are backed up another month because of the flooding in Australia.

I've, used a powertrax no-slip in a liberty with the 8.25 29 spline and loved it. It was very impressive to me and others who were there while I was wheeling. Also, very easy to install, just take your time and don't rush it.

I run a detroit in the rear of mine and love it.. it makes thing a little interesting at first but once you are used to it you won't want to go back... In the front I am running a Detroit Tru Trac mechanical limited slip and love it. I like the fact that it's not a full locker but will act close to it when it starts to function. Just my thoughts.

so after your suggestions, i think i got picked out what i want.....

Dana 30: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...egory_Code=LOC

OR

Dana 30: http://www.aussielocker.com/index.ph...-xd-13027.html

And for the rear,

Chrysler 8.25: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...egory_Code=LOC

with the lock-right/aussie in the front, and the powertrax in the back, would this have any effect on the highway performance, in 2 wheel drive? would there be any compromise with this, or is nothing changed as far as gas mileage or anything esle in 2wd with this set up?

and last, which would you suggest for the front of my two choices?

If you accelerate enough while turning you will feel it want to pull you straight.

Moved to Cherokee Chat!

This is more of a opinion question. If you were installing the Locker then Tech would be the place.
