Default Lift help

I am gonna be buying a lift soon for my 99 but really don't know where to start. Right now I dont have a ton of money to spend on a life but am looking for about a 3" lift for around 300-400 bucks. Any ideas on one? Also if I went with a budget boost lift, are there any negatives to keep in mind? Thanks

Rough Country 3" Add a leaf: link – $345

Rustys 3" Add a leaf: link – $265

Rustys 3" With full leaf springs: link – $438

Rubicon Express 3.5" With full leaf springs: link – $585

I would always go with a full leaf pack kit. They're just better.

Avoid rusty's like the plague and like everyone else said, get a full leaf pack kit, it's worth the extra dough.

I'd save up and look for deals around on craigslist, you can come across some great deals on there if you're lucky

Rustys is fine...i Ran rustys for a couple of years, beat on it hard and never broke a thing.

You dont have to spend the money on an RE lift or an OME lift to have good performance.

Buy either the rustys or the RC 3 inch with FULL leaf packs
Sure it is a little over your budget, but in the long run youll be happy.

I have run both rustys and RC in the past on my last Xj. I can tell you that my Re equipped Xj rides much better than both of those lifts the op is concerned about ride so she should not be looking at RC or Rustys. The general rule with suspension is you get what you pay for

I think the RC rides great. Even better with the control arm drop kit. I'd say it's barely a change from the stock suspension ride quality.

Dont see where the OP is really concerned with ride, seems like he is more concerned about price. Ive ran both kits as well, and now im on a Rubicon Setup..Im offering him suggestions for BUDGET lifts, not something thats gonna ride like a Cadillac. If I was giving input for a good ride id recommend OME, or RE.

I was mistaken thinking this was another similar thread. But going with a more expensive kit is cheaper in the long run

I'm going to say it depends.

What if he doesn't like it and decides to sell it? He's not out that much money going with a cheap lift. Plus there is not really any sense in paying a premium for a 3in lift or really anything that is not going to see heavy offroad use.

FWIW, I was/am still in this boat. I have boxes of parts stacked up waiting for me to have time off so I can afford the down days to have it all strapped on.

I went wit hthe RE 3.5" Superflex Kit (w/ full packs). Added Bilstein 5100 shocks and grabbed RK upper and lower adjustable arms. The RE kit was around 715$ from mudflaps.com and the IRO arms I sourced from 4x4groupbuy and 4wd.com.

I saved up and bought each component over the course of a few months because I wanted to lessen the felt cost as well as get quality components (required more saving). I'm also going to try and offset the cost by selling the RE arms that came with the kit.
