How often do you go off road? Every weekend? Lift it. Once a month or less? leave alone.

Just go with a mild 3'' lift, that way you have the best of both worlds.

The lift doesn't lower your mpg, your tires do. I would go with 3 or so inches and 31's. Not a huge change in mpg, and a more aggressive look.

3" lift and go with cheap 235/75/15 gives you enough clearance for the body and retains the stock MPG.
87 Renix, 4.0 5 speed, 3.07 2 door, and it runs 18 to 20mpg. Unless your on the Freeway trying to run 75mph then it drops somewhat.

You Must Choose. If you lift you have committed to a jeep adventure. It will not be free. It will reward you with mechanical challenges, geometrical education, pride in achievements, a thin ligth weight easy to carry wallet. Now ask your self, havn't you honestly allready decided? See you up there.

the mpg doesnt go down "that" much with 31's. Even with gas expensive as it is up here, I would never go back to stock.
