Default LED's in the Thermostat

I recently switched my thermostat bulbs to LED's (4mm twist lock LED's). I didn't like how the LED's didn't produce as much light as the stock bulbs. I decided to find a shinny rattle can paint. I went to HD and selected Rust-oleum bright coat Metallic Finish.

I removed the thermostat control box and gave the inside a good sanding. I taped off all the small holes and started spraying. After spraying four light coats, I reinstalled everything. The silver paint definitely increased the light that is produced and made it more uniformed. I am very satisfied with it now!

Sorry I didn't take any pictures.

The thermo lights were much dimmer. These pics are with the paint.

That looks great, finally someone does something useful with LEDs other than making their Jeep look like a space ship lol

Can you post a list of bulb types thinking about doing this myself.

Thanks

I bought all the bulbs from Superbrightleds.com. Heres what you'll need :

Instrument cluster : (5) 5mm NEOx-xHP: NEOx High Power LED Instrument bulb. I used Cool white.

Switches : (3) one for each switch. 4mm NEOx-xHP: NEOx High Power LED Instrument bulb. I used red.

Thermostat : (2) 4mm NEOx-xHP: NEOx High Power LED Instrument bulb. I used Cool white.

Shifters : (2) One each. WLED-xHP5: LED T10 Wedge Base Bulb. I used White. I had to also modify the LED's. The light was WAY to bright. If you take a small pair of pliers you can pull off each LED. I pulled off all but one for the 4wd shifter and all but 2 for the trans shifter. The bulbs are a little to big so I had to cut a hole in the side of the white plastic and fit the bulbs in.

All together it took me about 30 min to change all the bulbs. When I did all the bulbs, I also bought the regular LED bulbs. The regular bulbs didn't put out enough light for me.

I also did all the other bulbs :

-Front Center Courtesy light : Don't wast your money on the Rigid Loop Festoon bulb with SMD LEDs. It's not bright and it doesn't fit. I have to find a different bulb.

-Rear Courtesy light : I used the 4210-xHP6: 6 High Power LED Festoon Bulb. This bulb is BRIGHT!!! I'm going to try and use one for the front courtesy light.

- Front Driver and Passenger Courtesy lights : I used WLED-xHP5: LED T10 Wedge Base Bulb There bright!!!!

-I didn't do the kick panel lights. I forgot about them.
