Yeah i have done a bit of it in previous vehicles. For the ambient lighting setting dont buy the crap light bars and such at walmart. Get some single LED wired lights with a 12volt resistor from EBAY. Place them strategically they are not expensive.

yeah what about the ones from like autozone or advanced auto.. the flex lights, the bars, modules, pods, or single wired ones??
dont use togs for 100w and up light they blow easy had that happen to me and a cop was passing and i shocked my self but no ticket but i did mine blue cause they didnt have red and body silver and thought it would look better but red look good had it in mine for a while but bar went out
Hold on. Pics on the way! First is the light strip. Blue LED strip to 12v accessory power, and the second is the driver side floorboard. The pics don't do it justice. Even my 10 MP Fuji Film can't take good night pics of these. Just bright enough to tie your shoes in. But not distraction bright. Cost me like 10 bucks IIRC.

Honestly I have seen it done really cheaply with just regular old leds and resistors and a ingenuity. I personally am not a fan of the strip accent lighting sold at Walmart or Autozone but what ever floats your boat. I once saw a writeup on a guy who used orange leds in his lexus for accenting and it looked stock. It was really amazing.
