Not entirely sure about your '96 but my '98 remote looks like the one on the 2nd picture but without the ALARM button.

I ordered mine from Keylessride, and they indicate yours should be like the first image:

When you get it, find a locksmith to program it for you. Mine did it in 5 minutes for $20, as opposed to the $85 the dealership wanted.

Good luck!

Mine also looks like the second one without the panic button. (good)

I'd like the top design better, I hate having a big square stupid thing with only two little buttons on it attached to my keyring. But for your 96, I think you're looking at some aftermarket deal, unless you can somehow get a dome light setup from 97' and up sport edition or higher that featured keyless entry and wire it up.

you cant just buy a remote, you know that right? if you dont have the factory keyless system (and it sucks anyway) you should just pick up an aftermarket one. i have a viper keyless/remote start and its 1000000x the system the stock one was.

What's the install like on that one? Does it replace the assembly in the dome light? Better reception I'm sure lol

I had it installed. 200 bucks for then unit and install at best buy, range is like 1/2 mile as the crow flies, but all that matters to me is that it starts the jeep up in the driveway from inside my place.

The fob for my 96' looked exactly like the second pic but without the alarm button. Come to think about it, it didnt have a chrysler logo either. It was just a little rectangle with two buttons. Lock/Unlock
