Kenwood subs any good?
Looking for good crisp sound with decent bass (doesn't need to shatter glass). How does this setup look?
Kenwood Excelon KFC XW1000F 10" Shallow Sub

Alpine MRP F250 4 Channel Amp

With this amp, could I bridge 2 of the 4 channels to power the sub, and leave the other 2 to power 2 speakers as well?
Thanks

That amp isnt the ideal config for a single voice coil sub. It also wont work in the configuration you are suggesting either. I would use that amp for your full range speakers and look at something else for the sub. Power isnt everything and you dont necessarily need anything overly expensive if you adjust gains appropriately and don't abuse your volume you can have good sound for just a little cash. I was heavy into car audio a long time ago and worked on some pretty high end stuff but unless you are competing or showing off most of it is a waste. I currently use a $55 amp from walmart on a 10" kicker and it sounds good and is strong enough to annoy other cars around me. I turn it down at traffic lights though because I am not that guy. Again proper adjustment can make a lot less than ideal sound good.
Best of luck.

Excelon is the better stuff from kenwood and alpine makes a solid amp, however like suggested earlier id use the alpine on the speakers and find a small 200-300 watt amp for the subwoofer. Any reason why youre looking at a shallow mount sub? Trying to save every bit of space possible?
That amp doesn't match the sub.
You need the impedance of the sub to match the amp's and also the amp's rms power rating should match the sub, this one said 50-250, I'd put 250 to.
Find a 3 channel amp, or a two channel and a monoblock.

I have a 150watt power acoustic amp powering two 10s im very pleased with the amount of bass I receive from it. It shakes my rear view mirror when the bass hits. Under powering is better the matching the max the sub can handle. You dont need big power for a good sounding system like what the OP is after.

Bigwheel - Shallow mount because I will be installing in the cubby space.
mr white - both the sub and amp (when bridged) operate at 4 ohms impedance so how do they not match?
Within what range should the amps rms rating be to the subs? I didn't know under powering a sub was so bad.

Sorry, thought it said 2ohms bridged but I guess it is 4.
Underpowering is not bad, if you turn it up too loud you'll clip the signal and that blows subs. If you don't turn it up real loud you'll be fine.

Thats where proper tuning of the amp comes into play. I run mine at 30(85%) volume all the time and never have an issue with clipping.
