I use WD-40 all the time before a car wash. Works like a charm =D just spray then wipe it right after with a rag before it dries off

No one took me serious on the comet used to clean tires. Just washed it to show results and how well this home remedy works haha.

I've been using Comet for years on white letters as well as chrome bumpers, mirrors, etc. For the price it can't be beat

This. My 47 ford has wide whites ( see my photo album) and that Wesley's bleche white ( yes that is the correct spelling)is awesome. Personally i am not a fan of raised white letters but if you want them nice then thats the stuff

You can use any kind of an abrasive cleaner with bleach in it. Cheap works. I always used Comet or Ajax. It worked very well on the old wide bias-ply whitewalls.

As long as we're talking cleaning, I have a trick I'd like to pass on. To keep vinyl tops and bumper inserts nice and black, I cleaned them with Bon-Ami cleanser (because it has no grit in it), and then used Future Floor Finish. It's actually an Acrylic coating that will last about 6 months without cracking. It cleans off with the cleanser very easily. Don't get it on the chrome because it will give it a rainbow look. Try it. If you don't like it, it cleans right off. I've even used it on tires.

could always do what I did once (on accident) and nudge a bridge guardrail. letters looked like new on the passenger side! was a scary situation though.

It was my brother's truck, I told him I got bored and cleaned them... He still doesn't know the truth!
