Back on topic: how can a crossover be called a Cherokee?
It's a mindshare grab of what the xj was and this... thing certainly isn't, purely for marketing.
*grrrr*

I'm not going to complain about jeep making this vehicle. Nor am I going to trash new jeeps. The auto industry is changing. I just don't think that this vehicle resembles the xj enough to be badged "cherokee"

You said it better than I did. I got ragey over the name recycling. They're welcome to make new, different vehicles. I'll be keeping my XJ, tho.

Exactly the point, that's the purpose of the page. They can make whatever they want, they've been making cars for years. It doesn't surprise me they're making another. Just don't ruin the Cherokee name with it, the 2014 doesn't reflect almost any of the purposes, abilities, and ideas of the XJ.

You do realize the Cherokee name is used in other countries for liberties? The Cherokee name never stopped. They have the chassis code for a reason! Now if they called it the new Cherokee XJ then ya I'd have a problem but they're not, I don't know the code though. What did you guys expect it to look like? A 2001 Cherokee? Heck do we even have the tech to make that o,d stuff anymore lol?? I love my xj but them bringing back the Cherokee isn't gonna make me lose sleep. Also a friend of mine brought up a good point.. A lot of 4wd guys never liked the Cherokee when it came out it wasn't meant for offroad use really. But look what we use them for now.. Offroad! Who's knows it could turn out to be a hell of a project jeep in the future have an open mind.

i think some people on here are blinded by the fact that enthusiasts only make up a very small percentage of the market. telling chrysler to change the name is not going to do anything. they have the mass market in their sights, not the small enthusiast market. Soccer moms dont want solid axles and a straight six engine, they want all the creature comforts and technology and MPG that every other competitive compact SUV has.
Heck i work at a Chrysler dealer and i can tell you that even 90% of the wranglers that come in have never left pavement, and you guys expect people to go out and wheel a brand new compact SUV? LOL
