Just test drove a 2014 KL
Honestly it feels like a Saturn Vue if anyone has one or something like it. Big lack of cargo space. I went from the new one into my '89 and i felt like i was in a full size truck. These things are okay but shouldnt be "jeeps". Definitely not what i would take as the vehicle to carry on the Cherokee nameplate.

yes, the kl,,is that the new "cherokee"? was my question. plugged into a search and see that it is..a crying shame. perhaps they should've called it the "Metrosexual" instead of Cherokee..

I was just thinking the same thing the other day... XJ's are all over the place right now, but they'll start thinning out as the years go by. Makes me want to stockpile a few. Maybe mine will last forever. Wishful thinking..

I drove a KL on Sunday. My mom is looking for a new car to replace her '02 Tahoe. We ended up driving a KL Trailhawk and a Subi Outback 3.6R, both were Charcoal and had black leather interior. The first thing I noticed in the KL was that there was some stitching coming undone on the top of the passenger seat and despite the numbers in the brochure, the cargo area seemed small. The interior felt cheap with lots of silver painted plastic just begging to be scratched up. Then I saw the $41,125 price on the sticker. The KL had a panoramic sunroof and electronic park assist (it parallel parks for you using vague and numb electric power steering). I will admit, it looks much better in person than it does in pictures. In my opinion, it's the best looking SUV in it's class.
The Outback felt awesome. It was solid and refined and, despite being slightly down on power compared to the KL, it definitely felt quicker (probably because it weighs 500 pounds less). The hydraulic steering was really nice and familiar, the interior had some of the same painted plastic but felt more luxurious. Add to that, it's $5000 less, has paddle shifters, has a proven drive train, holds it's resale, and is capable of going everywhere my mom would want to go and the decision was easy.

I sat in one over the weekend and to those that drove it, was the visibility as bad as it seemed? That thing has 18" of dash...I'm 6', when I was far enough from the pedals to be comfortable I had a lousy view out of the thing.

There *is* a reason that the Cherokee is a dope ride. Cause it's one of the few SUVs that isn't embarassing to be seen in!
