Unhappy Just bought my first jeep cherokee for 500. NEED 4x4 HELP. PLEASE.

ive narrowed down my 4x4 problems to my vacuum pump. surprise surprise right? well this is my first xj and im 16 so i really need to know how much this is going to cost... budget is very limited. whats the best thing to do?

if its the vacuum actuator...buy a non-disco axel shaft and swap it in. and put a hard plate over where the actuator used to sit. Unless you feel like dropping $210 for a posi-lok

do a home made posi lock can do it for around 30 prolly

x2 get rid of the 2 peice axle shaft, they are crap.

That is a HUGE PITA, I tried it and it didn't work so I just dropped the dough for a posi-lok. I wish I had known and just swapped axel shafts out. would have been so much cheaper

i know this sounds dumb but im still learning about my jeep. whats a two peice axel shaft? and will it fix my 4x4 problem? how much are they?

That explains the two piece axle shafts....its called a Central Axel Disconnect

ok. so when you get rid of the cad garbage, which im doing(going to a non-disco with 4.88's and lockright) what do you do with all the vacuum/electrical wiring crap coming from the transfer case? any advice appreciated.
