Junkyard Help!
So I was rummaging through my local junkyard and found a 97 xj with a 8.25 on it and the tags just say 4.1. It is a 4 banger which is what commonly comes with 4.10s right? Why does the tag only say 4.1? I was looking for a 3.55 but I also only found tags that say 3.5... I didnt have any tools with me at the time and wasnt able to open it up. Is there any solid concrete evidence that 4.1 is 4.10 and 3.5 is 3.55? Another thing, both of those axles are from 2wd XJs, can I swap either of those to my 4wd if the front has the same gears? If the 4.1 does indeed mean 4.10 then Ill probably take that one and try to find a front axle.

A 4.10 setup is getting to be hard to find and there are a lot of people looking for them, with luck the dealer won't even look at the ratio on it. In fact more people with 2wd's looking for just the rear when they go to a larger tire making it more valuable to a even larger market.
