Paypal does nothing. Been there, done that. Sending as a gift is actually not a terrible idea but you have to be smart about it. I usually never even consider sending as a gift if what im buying is over like $30. Paypal claims that their protection program will not cover you if you send as a gift (this is why they charge a fee) its like an insurance. You took the risk in going around the fee and now your SOL. I wouldnt try and contact authorities either for $145 they'll probably just laugh at you. Live and learn bud its all you can do at this point.

If anybody requires payment as a "gift" and will not do business with you otherwise, then stay away. If somebody is really worried about losing that money to fees, then they could request a percentage to cover the fees.

But the fact that they would only accept it as a gift means that they knew they get the money and have no obligation to send the parts. Paypal can only intervene in cases of purchasing goods and services, not gifts.

I hate slime-***** like this.

Just recently...maybe 4-5 days max. Jeepdude was pm'ing about a tire trade..his 31's he has/had posted for my 33 km2's + cash.
I send him my tires & he sends his + cash. I felt sketched sending a guy on the other side of the state 1000 worth of tires without some kind of collateral, and in one of my for sale threads, he even offers his 3.5" RE springs vs cash..

And paypal WILL help you even if you gifted it. You have your PM's or txts or emails correct? Thats your proof that it was a transaction for goods! Especially if you have the one where he gave you his paypal email, and asked for you to gift it. You CALL paypal and talk to them directly, if you get the run around, wait & call a little later. They WILL help, but it seems some of the will help while others give you the "oh well your screwed" line.

Link them to this thread, and let them know you aren't the only person to be scammed/ripped off.
Jeepdude seemed like a great guy, I had his number to txt him pics but didn't save it..wish I had now. But he seemed straight when we talked..idk it may be a fluke, but his lack of communication isn't helping him here.

Maybe you could look on your phone bill and find his number and give it to some of the people that got ripped off.

Very plausible actually. I just switched carriers from virizon to cingular. But I'm sure Virizon should be able to get me it still?
