Default Jeep zapped by lightning

Recent storms in the Rockies made me curious as to what actually happens to a vehicle when it's struck by lightning. Lo and behold an XJ was used as an example. Wish there were pics of damage to electronics & headliner, if there was any.

We had a Dodge Caravan in the shop that was hit by Lightning last year. Every module and relay had to be replaced. the PCM was erased clean like it had never been programed

That's a very deep and insightful question. Like all other vehicle related questions of this nature, Top Gear has already asked it and addressed it!
