Please give me some imput and help me decide which would be an easier less costly and of course more reliable build. I've only owned one Jeep and it was a comanche 4.0 and I had 189k faultless miles, I couldn't beat that truck to death (believe me I tried).. I'm leaning toward the 4.0 for its reliablity, economy. When I was going to buy a jeep last year I was considering the Grand Cherokee but could only find them in V8, I'm not worried about the fuel as much but moreso the reliability..


What are some pros and cons with either. Is the V8 that unreliable? If I find a GC with 4.0 are there other chassis/body/mechanical issues they have.

TIA for any and all imput, I think they both look cool lifted, but I'm looking for more functionality than anything.. Unbiased of course....

The ZJ has coil spring rear suspension, instead of leaf springs like the XJ.

if you use the search feature you would have found a bunch of threads on this,its bin covered alot and actually a thread was started acouple pages ago about this very same topic. Ahhh but anyways its about even with pro's and cons for both,xj's are cheaper to build up (lift etc) while zj's tend to be alot more work and exspensive
