Default Jeep Grand Cherokee Digtal Thermometer

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have yet been able to find an owner's manual for it. So, I'm checking to see if I can do a quick bypass, for a solution to my question.
When I bought the Cherokee the digital compass and thermometer worked fine. With in a few days, I had to disconnect the battery for some reason. When I hooked the battery back up, the compass still worked great, but the thermometer was off.
Did disconnecting and reconnecting the battery damage it it? Or, is it and instrument that can and needs to be calibrated?
Appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Robert

Is it showing F or C ? That can be changed between the two.

Thanks for the reply! It shows that it is the Fahrenheit reading. If everything else didn't work, I would guess it's the thermometer simply gone bad.
