so after playing in the snow with the jeep i come home an notice smoke coming from the back.....my jeep is chopped....an the wire harness tht goes to the tail lights i gues had a short an wuz melting the plug so i disconect the battey an start curseing.so im going to the junk yard an cut out a wire harness from another heep an redo it.....the worse part is i just filled it up with gas an swaped tires an front ds from my 96 xj an now it has to sit to i fixed it... .so i spent a hour swapping back to the 96.......i love my jeeps but damn there pushing there luck

lol sorry kind of ranting....but i notice smoke coming from the rear qaurter panel..which is open,i look an its coming from the taillight wires ...an started to melt the plastic plug so i unhooked the battery ,so know im going to get new harness from jy an rewire it

 

Sounds like its your fault for not water proofing your chopped jeep.

 

ive drove all summer rain shine ...down pouring doors off an no prob.....im thinking 2 wires started touching an got a little hot
