Jeep 4.0 engines are tough!

A while back, when the "Cash for Clunkers" thing was going on, various big gas hogs and 1 XJ (don't remember what year) got traded in at the dealership where I work. Part of the deal was, we had to seize then engines. To do this, all of the oil and coolant was drained out. Then 1 quart of a gooey white mixture was poured into the crankcase and the engine was run at max RPM until it locked up.
Most vehicles wouldn't even make it across the lot and had to be pushed out to the side lot to be picked up and hauled away. The XJ not only made it out to the side lot, the engine was run with the pedal to the floor for so long that the cat superheated and caught on fire. At this point, the tech bailed out and called the FD. By the time they got there, the whole thing was on fire, all of the windows had blown out from the heat and the air bags had deployed. The engine was still running!!!
I honestly don't think it ever seized up. I think that either enough wiring burned through that it lost spark or the FD simply drowned it with their hoses.
The fuel tank held as well. After it was all said and done, one of the techs went out and siphoned the rest of the fuel out.

I have only had my 93 GC for 2 weeks...the 4.0 is the best part of the deal...a lot of little probs on the vehicle but no loss of power on the engine...

We did my dads 93 XJ with 326k miles on it at our shop It took about twenty minutes for the motor to seize...... the radiator blew up at about fifteen minutes in.
