Default Jb weld?

How strong is jb weld? I had the top hinge for my drivers door rust off and was hoping it would be a decent temporary substitute and hold the hinge in place and allow me to open and close the door until I can get to the junk yard and cut out a new a-pillar

This.

You don't need an entire new A pillar either. Just weld a new hinge in.

I don't have a welder. But the hinge had been rewelded on before and when I took it the the shop they told me to get a new a pillar then they'd do it.

Of course they did. Why suggest just a hinge when they can bill you for an entire frame section?

Pics of where it pulled off? It's a common problem on older XJs.

I'll have to get one when I get out of school. Haven't got any with me yet. I appreciate the help so far.

You still don't need a pillar for it. Just cut out whatevers rusted and have new metal welded in so you have something to weld the hinge to.

Need to cut the top hinge section out on mine and redo it at some point. One of the previous owners welded the hinge back on at some point and obviously had no idea how to weld lol

Mine looks exactly like that, just hasn't ripped off yet. Am looking for a solution also, although I'm not sure what the sheet metal under the hinge/weld looks like :\
