Cool JAMSTIR

Guys, my jeep 2.5, is near ready mot, and once i have her spotless clean, i will throw some picture,s up..

But i got a problem.. when i change onto 4x4.. the engine temp goes up, and she feels all funny, .. hahahaa..

Like when trying to turn, its stiff and not wanting to.. bear in mind, she has sat for over a year, while i was doing other rebuild to her.

I dont know if i should just give her a wee 2 min run on all 4, and then let her cool.. or to start striping bits, and what ever else there is in there..

Any info.. would be great..

jam.

You're not trying to use 4 wheel drive on dry pavement are you?

X2. You should only use 4 wheel on gravel/sand/mud ETC... NOT ever on pavement...Tj

Funny you should say that.. hmmm That thought had crossed my mind, due to when the snow was here, it never gave me that feeling.. i only had it on when going out or backing into drive way..

So dry roads is a no no.. hahahah

Yeah, that'll tear your transfer case up, not to mention the strain it puts on all of your U-Joints and such.

It could be that you've got front diff issues, but that only explains the "stiff" feeling while turning.

I have no thoughts on why it'd be overheating only when in 4wheel drive. If you were auto it could be your trans fluid somehow superheating and heatsoaking your radiator, but I've never heard of that even happening.

Do you have the necessary/correct amount of coolant in your system?

Cool jamstir

N. Ireland being the place it is.. i got no where to take it of road.. not that i found legal anyway.

But i understand now ... DONT DRIVE ON TAR MACK.. lol

She,s been sitting for a while, and i really dont have a clue how the 4x4 works, or what oil in there should be checked.
The cooling in the rad.. is fine.. not losing water.. or cool stuff..
But the engine will go hot.
Better if i can get it of road for a while to see whats going on.

Thanks for help guys.

Jam.

Driving in 4 on pavement shouldn't heat up your coolant. It'll make your trans and U joints work harder, though. Not so much the trans, but just about everything "after" that will get beat pretty hard.
