This is the bottom line, OP. You're an unfortunate victim of clever marketing. You got sold. Period. There are plenty of other jeeps out there on Craigslist or Autotrader that are probably fitted with the same mods that yours has... or maybe it doesn't. Either way, patience and research goes a long way toward finding a deal on a super clean or super awesome vehicle without selling a kidney to purchase. No, you're not going to have a warranty with it, but honestly, the warranty period that Davis is offering is moot. There's literally NOTHING that's really going to go wrong with a cherokee that's been "rebuilt" as the company says or that has that low of miles that you couldn't fix yourself with basic hand tools. Anything that you CAN'T fix with basic hand tools, you could learn how to fix with your FREE membership here. No joke man. There are plenty on here that started out as automotive noobs or maybe knew a little but lacked the confidence to tackle certain things because of lack of experience (myself is included in that bracket - now, I wouldn't hesitate to swap a motor out myself). Perhaps if we've said anything by this point that's soaked in and makes any sense to you, maybe it's not too late to get your money back. If so, great - go find yourself a less expensive, comparably-equipped jeep on craigslist. There's nothing wrong with buying a built Jeep, just don't let the seller dictate the price!!

i have USAA as an insurance company they insure my car for it's value plus any accessories I have added to the vehicle up to 5K, if I remember correctly, I just need to provide receipts if anything happens.

"Pays for damage to your car resulting from any incident other than a collision or rollover. That includes damage due to theft, fire, vandalism, flooding and hail.
"Custom equipment" means equipment, furnishings and parts permanently installed in or upon your covered auto, other than:
Original manufacturer equipment, furnishings, or parts;
Any replacement of original manufacturer equipment, furnishings or parts with other equipment, furnishings or parts of like kind and quality;
Equipment, furnishings, or parts designed to assist disabled persons;
Anti-theft devices and devices intended to monitor or record driving activity; and
Tires of a substantially similar size as those installed by the manufacturer."

Davis is that shop in Richmond VA that sells $12,000 XJs to unsuspecting youth. There was a few on the craigslist thread that we had fun with.
As for insurance, I just filled out the info sheet for modifications that is included with every insurance renewal. Geico said they will pay out $4,500 for the rig I paid $2,500 for and fixed up.

Wow that's ridiculous. They're still cherokees. They are still worth as much as others. They pull the wool over a lot of people's faces I'm sure

OP, one thing that may bring you comfort is that if something happens to your rig, any parts that aren't damaged can be pulled and installed on another rig or sold. I do my own work and I don't plan on getting rid of my XJ so that brings me comfort anytime I stress about some muppet crashing into me. I know you said you don't have the know how to work on your jeep but now is a good time to start learning as much as possible. I'm not gonna bash you about this topic, it sounds like you've had enough. Take this as a learning experience and walk away with some knowledge here. A lot of us have been doing this have been for a while. Sometimes we say something that can make you a little butt hurt. Unfortunately the truth hurts sometimes. I'm sure you have a nice XJ now. Learn how to take care of it and try to work on it on your own. You're not an out cast now. These guys aren't dumping on you and kicking you out the door. These same guys will be more than happy to help you through a build problem later this afternoon. Good luck with the jeep and don't be so d@&n sensitive.

To the OP that's the way insurance works and the exact reason I carry liability only on my XJ costs $96 every 6 months the rest I self insure.

Most all of my most costly/important parts could be swapped to another XJ if this one was wrecked and I was at fault or an off road accident. I have saw a lot of the Davis listings on the web and was not impressed with them for the cost as most was lipstick and lacking on real guts or quality parts. On one of their high end builds with 35" tires and had a D35 and 3.55 gears in it but was pretty for sure at $24K.

I think the reason those Davis vehicles are priced so high is their "paint correction" detail they do. I've seen detailers charge $100 to this on a vehicle...just imagine if they bill 20 hours to correct the paint, that's 2k just in "paint correction"....it adds up..lol. They would be better served painting some of the vehicles they sell.

A word of caution though. If you plan on doing this, don't list the parts as customizations on your insurance. If you list them on your insurance and the Jeep is totalled, you've lost the parts AND your Jeep. I don't list any customizations on mine. That way, if my Jeep is ever totalled out, the lift, tires, and wheels are mine... technically, since the VIN says it's 2wd, the front axle, tranny, and tc are mine too... but it would be harder to get away with pulling all that.
