Default Increasing MPG?

Hey everyone. I have a 2000 Cherokee sport. And I have been looking for some good ways to increase my fuel economy. Does anyone have any ideas? I really need this. lol

Thanks everyone!

Driving habits. If you see a red light, immediately start coasting to it. Drive with a feather foot, but not too light. You want to get into the higher, gas-saving gears while still not running each gear to 6,000 RPM.

Also, take your roof racks off.

Well I know that. But I mean upgrades or modifications.

i got a RE 3.5" left with some 245/75/16s..I get maybe 14-15mpg on the city and about 18-19mpg on the hwy.

Proper air pressure also helps..clean air filter, I did change the front O2 sensor, since I am now close to 130K..

I put in some street fire wires. I go to college 300 miles away from home, so when I visit, it usually takes a full tank one way. With these wires it's just over 3/4 tank used.
I'm gonna put in a CD ignition box today.

Best way is to baby it, don't get too much above 2500 rpm's on highway. Keep tires at proper inflation. Change the fuel filter, change the air filter (I put K and N in, though a new, clean one would do fine.) Clean the fuel injectors with gas additive called Lucas, and the entire system with Seafoam injector cleaner. And keep it to a minimum in weight carrying around. I have a clean 1990 4.0 inline 6 auto with only 117K on the clock. Honestly get average 22-24 on the highway with 65 mph, cruise and a/c on. As one post stated earlier, brake early, no jack rabbit starts or hard acceleration. Don't expect much in stop and go traffic, but you can make up some on the interstate. Good luck.

I have been trying to get a few more mpgs myself. Full tune up helped. I have a set of 703 neon injectors that will help. Next is a bored throttle body. Also moved my intake temperature sensor to my air box from the manifold. Mines a 96 4.0 h.o. auto. Getting 17ish city driving. Hoping the injectors and throttle body put me over 20. But I'm happy at 17. And I could deff drive it easier....oh and its all stock.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I was reading a article in PM about fuel additives and the article mentioned STP Gas Treatment increasing gas mileage. I never been one for snake oils but with gas prices the way they are I thought I'd try it. Well the stuff really works. I get 2 Red bottles for $3.25 at Dollar General. I run a bottle at every other fill up in my Jeep, my wife's Blazer, the daughters VW Golf. Increases gas mileage in all almost 20 percent. Try it and enjoy.

Roof rack makes that much difference?

Some say they see 2-3 mpg loss with it.

I disagree. I have a kargomaster with 4, 6" lights and did not see near that much of a difference. The factory cross bars couldn't possibly create enough wind resistance to cause a 10-15% decrease in gas mileage.
