Angry Im some what Angry!

well i finally found out what size lift i have on my XJ. Unfortuately i only have a 3 inch lift. The person i traded my mini truck to lied to me... He told me it was a 5.5 inch lift made by Rough Country (which RC doesnt make a lift that size, they make a 4.5 and 6.5, NOT 5.5) and that he bought it from All South AutoSports... So i took my XJ there and they looked at it was like, "Well it looks like a 3 inch because you still have the STOCK control arms..."

I wish i would have known more about Lifts and 4x4s when i was looking at this XJ (this is my first lifted/4x4)...

So with that being said. Is there anything i could do to get more of a lift without buying whole new kit?

thanks for your time and responses,
johnny

Shackles and spacers.

You could meassure it and check for yourself what the lift really is.

looking at the pics it does look like a 3" with trimed fenders, and since there trimed you cant just mesure from the hub to fender and get your lift hight but..........you can skim through this thread and find out how to mesure for it http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=912893

i would say your at 3" if you want more look in to a BB (Buget Boost)to add 2" also read up on it cause you will proably need SYE after going higher than were your at

nice mini,

There are ******** out there that do things like that, but that's how we gain experience and knowledge. Sorry about the circumstances though.

looks like about 3.5 in the rear and about 5 in the front. I think I see some 2" spacers on top of those springs. Sorry your upset. This is wht you don't buy a modified vehicle unless you know what you are looking at.

I wouldnt be too angry. You have a nice start to what becomes an addiction. Your going to want to also change the lower cont arms if you do a budget boost. Maybe something adjustable too. An SYE will be the right way of going about it on the transfer case; but is the transfer case allready dropped? If so get a set of 4 deg shims(metel ones form RE) for your rear leafs and go that route tiil an SYE is in the budget. Wheel it till it breaks than upgrade.

So you traded an s10 - s15 for a jeep. Good trade, its a 4.0 5spd, with 31's and a lift.

Mini truck = speeding tickets
XJ = No flares, no mud flaps, trespassing (for some), etc. and some that you have never heard of.

You can do so much more in a jeep. You have entered into a world that so many are missing out because they are sitting 3" off the ground getting mad cause they see another speed bump up ahead.

Welcome and cool off Jeeps rock, you will see soon.

I wonder what lurks under that orange oil pan? It looks like it was bashed in at one time... How many miles are on the Jeep? He may want to have the whole thing checked out by a Mechanic and replace normal wear items before he lifts it. My gut feeling is the lift is the last thing he needs at this time. He needs to start with a sound foundation... That means no oil leaks, coolant leaks, upgrade that old closed coolant system to a newer style. Change all the fluids, get all the switches and lights working properly if they aren't, brakes up to par if need be and so on...
That and maybe a few rattle cans of paint!
He can put a plan together for the lift once he knows everything is sound...
That's just how I'd do it...
And he needs to pick up a manual like I said earlier and read Chapter 1 (Maintaining your Jeep) . He wants to jump to Chapter 5 without reading 1-4 first...
