i'm mulling this over. what do u think?
saw this in a used car lot. i wonder if i should go for it.
what i see so far. rear C8.25, it says it has detroit truetrack, front has a cable ox locker, 5-speed, looks like home-brew rocker guards, has a tc drop, no sye, some MINOR leaks, nice roof rack, tires 34x12.50, missing all of the side trim and rear bumper, the lca's are moved back about a foot, DOESN'T HAVE A FRONT SWAY BAR, and 212k miles. i wanted to see if i can trade my 07 kawi ZZR600 for it.

what size lift is that to clear the 34s? and 4500 is a little pricy to me for the amount of miles missing rear bumper and slight leaks. thing this was obviously wheeled if it has home brew sliders and no rear bumper.

myeah, i know. i'm kinda going back and forth on it, because my bike only has 8k miles. but i've repaved asphalt and concrete with it a few times already. rebuilt it back completely though. the bike is worth at least 4 grand and i owe 4100 on it. in my mind this XJ is not worth a penny more than 3500. but if i try to get the lockers, roofrack and the tires by themselves, i will probably end up spending close to what they're asking for this. it is pretty clean and the body has no dents.... i'm so confused. i don't ride the bike much, and my wife said that she wants this. she has been bugging me for months to get her a TJ.... aaaaaah. why can't i have two of everything?????

It looks good and if she wants it you have to at least try. Point out the faults to them and it may bring the price down some. Then offer the trade if that's what you want, rather than selling the bike yourself. JMO

well, then i'm thinking about all the things it needs. definitely an sye, definitely a front winch bumper and a rear decent bumper, some fender flares. it might need the motor rebuilt soon... wow. i'm starting to get excited...

I like it but I would worry about it. They priced it for upgrades but I bet they didnt pay more to the prior owner for those upgrades. You could probably talk them down but not by much. They know they will sell it eventualy. I would probably walk away from it anyway. With that set up I can imagine the PO dunking that thing in water and running the snot out of it. That is unless they set it up to show it off more than wheel it.

that don't look like a show jeep. they would have left the flares on if they didn't wheel it. but mine has been in about 3 feet of water. problem free. but i'm gonna drive it first. they've been closed for the 4th. they'll reopen tomorrow.

the fenders are cut so it was def wheeled. over 200k miles is something to worry about, i know the 4.0 I6 engines are unstopable but playing 4500 or trading a bike with only 8k miles seems like alot for an engine that will most likely need to be replaced or rebuilt within a year depending on severity of use and amount. id try talking to guy down or straight up trade. for you will need to put a good chunk of change into it like you said sye for that lift looks easily over 4-4.5" both front and rear bumper. there alone your lookin around $1000

it already has a stroker in it or you plan on putting one in it? depending on what you wanna do with it i think you could find a stocker with less miles and build it the way you want and adiquet to your wheeling needs to about same price if not cheaper and then you would know everything about it

i'm not sure though. i mean i can build a 4cyl overhead cam or a regular v8 with no problems, but i get choked up thinking about screwing up a motor in my rig.
