Granted most methods of improving the HP are a waste. Your answer to the OP in your example is basicaly the same type of response you were gien in your question. Rudeness on the web is more a function of perception then action. You are Rude so you assume others are being rude, too.....
i don't feel the need to re-explain my previous post, but as i've stated i have always laughed with the OP. made sure to get a smiley face from them.
and i really don't know which part of "get the cheapest one" is an answer to my question. i don't work in wall street but i can count. i already had stated that i can get both and i think it's not that hard to figure out that ford 8.8 would have cost more time and money, i don't think that was a helpful answer or even an adequate answer. if you call me rude, then i'll have to apologize to you and to everyone else that might have been offended even if they found my post funny and joking. i think you missed my point. Tural Out.

oh, and if you think most methods of improving horsepower are a waste, then you definitely need to drive my XJ.

most bolt-ons and "cheap power mods" only give a few hp at most with all of them combined. butt dyno's are completely unreliable.

It doesn't bother me if people post the same question over and over. If everybody searched, this place would be an archive, not a forum. And like several of you have stated before, the search feature isn't always useful.

Take for instance a thread about a clunk. There are many many threads about noises. What should I search? Noise? Clunk? Thud? Bang? I can search all of these and get many responses, but they are all different. Somebody's noise may have something to do with the transfer case, while somebody else may have a noise coming from the transmission, driveshaft, axle, or whatever else. So just because there are a bunch of questions about a clunk doesn't mean that they are going to readily find the answer they are looking for by just performing a search.

Even if it's a common question that has a typical answer, like "Will 31s fit on my 3.5in lift?", you can either answer it, or ignore it. There's no reason to get rude or just put "do a search". Because just maybe when you have a question, and that person knows the answer, they will just ignore you. I hope that isn't the case, but you never know. Negativity will only pay you back with more negativity.

Most boltons will increase your peak horsepower by 1 or 2% combined. But I shoot for smoother curves. I never take the XJ passed 3k rpm so any addition before that is a gain for me. I can pass most stock XJs in my town with not much effort on almost 70lb tire and wheel combo and my friends with XJs and ZJs have driven my rig and they can confirm that I have more power with just boltons. I don't have an access to a dyno, but sheer power speaks for itself.

We've done something here that seems to be a frustration to many. We didn't post the answer to the original problem. Let's see if we can form a consensus to move forward.

(1) There is no place for rudeness. If a question causes so much irritation that one can not make a constructive answer or addition, one should just stop and leave the thread.
(2) If one knows of beneficial information elsewhere, one should provide a link or other information that will lead the OP to a successful search.
(3) Sometimes it is difficult to ascertain sarcasm or joking from written words. Because of that, the words might merely offend. Indicate clearly that you're not serious with an explanation or using a "smilie."
(4) Assume that a post is written to mean no harm until it is verified. Then it may be time to call out rude posts.
(5) Grammar police aren't appreciated, but punctuation between thoughts is.
(6) From my experience in the automotive service industry, people often have a difficult time explaining vehicle problems and giving all of the pertinent information. Instead of becoming frustrated with that, ask questions of the OP to further understanding.
(7) One of our purposes at this forum is to help one another. The same as in life.

I think MOST of us can live with that. but just like in an automotive repair, 5% of NUTS, cause 95% of problems.

If you think people on CF are rude go over to pirate and post something. Doesn't matter what you post, just anything. You WILL get flamed, and its not the normal flaming like what you get here, its like "were gonna grab a BFH and beat you in the head until your brains start falling out of your skull, and then we're gonna grab a sledge and beat your body till your insides are on the outside" kind of flaming, and then when you think they're finally done they start all over again. Really, go over there and read some threads.

research / learning=search button

they are not learning its the same stupid / idiotic questions that are showing up 10 times a day.
no offense to this forum or anything but the search button is pretty bad, pretty much everything you type in is a key word. so half the post it show you have nothing to do with what you want just one word you type. example you search with the word lift in it and itll show you every post on this forum with the word lift in it when chances are more then half of those posts have nothing to do with what you actually wanna know. are you honestly telling me to look at every post with the word lift in it to find out what i wanna know? thats asking alot if you ask me esp for ppl who arnt as jeep educated where half the things said they dont understand or dont know where that part is located. why cant you just be patient and help ppl. the world has turned so greedy if that 2 minutes it takes you to post a repeated answer are so important to you then this isnt the forum for you.

I agree. I try not to tell someone to search now.
