If your XJ is HPD44/9" equiped....
Post some pics! Over the weekend i picked up a HPD44/9" out from under a '79 F150 so i can start to transform my '01 XJ 2wd. I dont wanna see the HPD44 cut down to Waggy width, i wanna see full width Ford D44/9" combo's under some XJ's...

here is my full width hp44 and 9 inch...
front axle-1975 ford f-100 hp d44. has 1/2 thick axle tubes and had cast wedges. also has a custom full truss made by me.
rear axle-1979 ford f-150

truss is all 1/4 and 3/8 steel. the tube is .188 wall........pure beef.
also, thats about 7 inches of lift on 35's. needs 38s!!

Hud I think you ment welded wedge not cast since you were able to cut them off. Most 78-79 44s have cast wedges and there isn't a tube under them and they can't be ground off so you are basically stuck running ford radius arms or retubing them.
Sweeeet lookin' XJ's for sure. But i must ask, why such wide wheels? When i do my swap i plan to tuck the tires as much as possible considering its already gonna track around 2 1/2"s wider on each side.

plain and simple, stability.
why would you put in ''full widths'' and try to "suck em in"? why not cut them down if you are looking for a skinny axle?
my rims are 15x10 with 3.5 back spacing.....pretty standard rim.
Minus my wheels being 17x9 (10 with beadlock) and 4.5 backspacing.

Here's a pic of my 9" from last week....

I kept them full width. Modified the Ford arms and lengthened them to long arms with Ballistic joints.

I used TNT's truss with coil mounts.. but there are lots of companies that make coil mounts.
I also used their LCa mounts....On my truggy I used Artec Industries LCa mounts... Much beefier and they protect the lower joint where as the TNT one doesnt.
I have to ask X1994J What cause the daytona bearing to fail? Did you not use long enough bolts, or did you drop on a rock?
