Says the guy that lives on an Island inches above sea level.. You'll want to invest in a snorckle.

I am not limited to tourist attractions, when I am being a tourist.

I love wheelin on the beach. See a whole new cast of characters. Like the guy I pulled out last year with a Lexus LS 600 in sand even 4X4 were having trouble with. All wheel drive is the same as 4X4 right?

AWD is designed for street driving, a Subaru would be the exception but it's issue with beach driving is low clearance.
AWD vehicles never make it to the beach here, they get stuck on the access path, deep and soft sand. And I noticed that usually only one wheel would spin, sometimes two.

I was being rhetorical but you're right.

I figured as much. Especially since your'e an 'old guy', you would already know about AWD. To many on this forum I am an old guy too.
At least I am helping with your post count! That was my plan.

..I love my Cherokee because, it jumps!

Just razzin you...

Wish we had more Beach available for wheeling.. Kalifornia has over 1000 miles of coast line and I can think of 1 beach you can drive on. And even then you are only allowed to drive on it in route to the dunes above the beach. Drop a wheel in the wet sand you get a ticket.
We also have thousands of square miles of desert and mountains, most of which is closed to wheeling, some even hiking and horseback. More is closed everyday. BLM (fed and state) is trying to make the famous Rubicon area off-limits to human use.

Louisiana has plenty of beach to drive on. I pulled a toyota 4x4 out one time that was sunk in to the rear axle and the tide was coming on fast. 2 inches deep water when I finally yanked him loose.

I love my Cherokee because no matter what breaks, I can buy the parts and fix it for $200 or less, and that's only if i can't find it in the junk yard. Most times its $20 or less at autozone. And I can fix it myself with a little bit of reading on cherokee forum.

^ That is happening here too. The new rules put in place three years ago took away over half of our driving beaches. And made many areas off limits to humans. This is the National Park Service I am referring to. Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Recreation Area.
