Default I got me a sub!

I used to make fun of people who had subs...... but its fun! Got this home theater cab for $5 at my church garage sale. the cab has one 12 inch sub and two little tweeters. we covered the porthole. that plus bumming some speaker wire from a friend=bass. I mostly wanted it to take some of the load off of my stock speakers, because when you turned them up loud enough to hear they started to pop, etc. I just wired the cab straight from the wires to my back right speaker (which no longer had any foam around it. see the picture).

ps I know they're sketchy. 5 dollars and 20 minutes in a friend's garage for a good-sounding end product.

X2. Here is my sub box and amp, less than 300 bucks and it sounds great ten years running.

I'm not running mine through an amp. It works pretty hard as it is, not sure if it could handle a lot of wattage. It's no top-end piece. But for what it is, for 5 dollars, it is really solid.

That's not even meant for a car, that's home audio.

its a 12" woofer not a 'sub'woofer it probably wont hit very low notes. the reason it seem to work so hard is it is a low power setup that looks to be a cheapy at that.

No need to rain on my parade, man. The glass is half full. I don't claim to be an expert. I just know that for 5 bucks, my music sounds a heck of a lot better.

That sounded angrier than I wanted. Thank you for correcting me. But it does sound much better now, taking some of the load off my other (stock) speakers.

You need to just disconnect those BLOWN factory speakers.

I did. And in their place, I put a home theater cab. Ghetto, but workable.

cmon bra, that speaker will work but being made for a house amp its an 8ohm speaker and your car speakers push 4ohms,but for 5 bucs i cant blame you.your other speakers are popping cause there blown,if you replace your factorys wit some cheap pioneers, jensons, or something ill bet you will enjoy the sound a lot better than the house speaker.put you some bass blockers on your interior speakers and get a nice enclosed sub/amp and you can turn it up without blowing your interiors cause the sub will be taking all the bass,i also see people putting their amps under there seats bad, bad, bad idea, amps have to keep cool thats why they have cooling fins/grooves or higher end fans when they get hot.they can catch on fire wit no ventilation, had a buddie loose his ride like that, anyway gud luck wit yours.

I'm working my way there. If this is something I like and want better quality of, I'll spend some money. But for now: sketchy is the word of the day.

the stock speakers are crap throw them out and just order some new ones. cheapy speakers will be better than stock. for $5 you lost your storage space. undo the the duct tape please those boxes are ported for a reason.
