Default How well does dyeing carpet work?

I was thinking about dyeing my carpet black to match my seat covers and cover the stains. How well does dyeing work and does it last or come off on other things when wet? Any pictures of dyed carpet? Thanks in advance for any replies

Dyed the carpet black in my ZJ a few years ago, still holding up well. Used RIT dye.

More details in my thread here.. http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.ph...ht+i%27d+share

JUST drained my carpet from soaking for 48 hours with RIT. I made a rookie mistake on my rear carpet and didnt let a carpet shampoo fully dry so it made the ink not stick in places. I dont really care about that one though. The front carpet is all that matters to me. Will post results tomorrow after work and i rinse it with a hose.

Yeah I drained mine today and it had air pockets.... So I need to redo it... Make sure the dye gets everywhere because the carpet is rubber backed and will keep air pockets

What kind of container did you use? And that happened to my front carpet too. I think you have to move it around a little in the dye water to make sure you get all the air pockets out.... I'm going to try again tonight

I feel like it would work so much better if I could find a large shallow container so I don't have to fold the carpet. Mine messed up because I had to fold the carpet to fit it in the container....

I had planned to dye mine.. but considering it'll primarily be a secondary vehicle I'm opting to replace the carpet with vinyl.
