My father in law gave me his old jeep, and he keeps telling me it's a rare gem. My question is how rare is it? It's a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 H.O. 2 door
2 wheel drive with a 5 speed.
I haven't seen many 2 door xj's around me and if I do their 4x4. But that may be, because I live in northeastern wisconsin

 

Around me i see one on craigslist here and there they are not that rare.

 

That's what I was thinking. He said their was only 9 in the u.s

 

Not sure but I think he's off by a few thousand.

Not really that rare. I can find around 10-15 5 speed 2 doors on craiglist all day, 2wd or 4wd

 

Harder to find in the later ones, not all that rare in the early-mid 90s.

 

I see plenty of 97-01 that's 5 speed around here

Might be an area thing. Everyone who sees my truck locally thinks it's the second coming of Jesus.

I don't really care either way, i just haven't seen another one. I don't feel one way or the other on transmissions on these things. The manual is strong, and the auto is a good one.

 

From what I've seen here in the midwest, they're not near as common as the 4 door but I definitely wouldn't say they are rare.

 

Rare would be a '85 Spring Special Edition XJ.

 

XJs are not rare.

 

If you're talking about model in general, than no. If you want to talk about certain options, trims, and packages, there are some.

 

This is probably the rarest Cherokee out there.
