Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this forum and had a few questions. I am 16 years old and my first car was a stock jeep cherokee. After a summer of decent four wheeling, I'm looking to upgrade my jeep, nothing much just a 3" lift and some 31" tires. I was wondering about how much i would be looking at for costs. Thanks guys
Use the search function and figure out what exactly you want.
You can get 3" out of junkyard parts for under $200 and used 31s on craigslist for another $100 or so or you can spend $2000+ on a lift kit, regearing your axles, new steering components, new tires, new wheels for the right backspacing, ect.
Do some research and figure out what's right for you then ask questions once you have an idea on what you want to do.

If you want to save some money, Rough Country is an option for lift kits. I'm pretty happy with my 6.5" kit from them.
Rough Country 3" Lift – $345
31" Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac – $167 x4 (5 for spare?)
You really shouldn't have to re-gear for 31's. I have 33's and I'm still stock. And it's arguable that you might want a slip yoke eliminator for your 3-inch lift kit, but it's optional. Those usually run you about $200, plus the cost of the driveshaft.
You also might want to trim your fenders out, it's free. Backspacing might be recommended, so figure $50 per wheel for that.
Additionally, the 31" tires are going to mess up your speedometer, so you will want a new speedo gear. That's another $50 here. (assuming you have 3.55 gearing)
