ok, im looking for some lifted xjs, and how much you have in it, cause im trying to convert my dad, lol. Im trying to convince him that we might as well make a offroad machine out of a cherokee instead of buying a fourwheeler. Help?

I have about 1,500 worth of offroad stuff, and another $900 in audio stuff.
I think you should get a 4 wheeler to beat on, like a used beat up one. Then mod it as you go too. Make sure it has low range for moderate crawling. And a two wheel drive is really fun because you don't have to worry about front cv joints getting torn up.

we have 4 wheelers, we were just gonna get bigger ones, but now that i have my xj,(being a 2wd one and all) i've come to the decision that i simply have to have a beater to play with since i cant really play as much as i want with the one that i have.
In that case, build up your xj.
Personally, I don't like 4 wheeleres that are over 250cc. Above that, they are just too big bodied to go anywhere fun. Too heavy to pick up out of a hole, or push out of a mud hole. My dad has a Yamaha wolverine 250cc. It can go places much easier than my uncles Arctic Cat or my dads friends Suzuki which is like 300cc
My other uncle has a Kawasaki Bayou 250cc 2wd that can go just about anywhere because it is so small. He even plowed through a ditch, and up through a brush pile on the other side with it. Try that with a 4wd and you will need new CV joints up front.

In the last 2 years ive bought 4 4wd XJs under $500. I picked the best 2 and pulled parts off the other 2.
Replaced all the "worse parts" back onto the donor vehicles and sold those for more than I paid for them even after taking the nicer seats, 8.25s out etc..
I actually got my first XJ because of a 4 wheeler. I spent $7000 on a new 4 wheeler to go hunting with. Got tired of having to hook up the trailer, load it up, trailer there, unload, reload, trailer home, put up etc..... Saw a $1400 lifted XJ for sale and the rest is history.
That $1400 XJ i have not done anything to other than a new belt, fluid changes and replacing the broke down drivers seat. It does everything I want it to do. Goes everywhere i went with my 4 wheeler and I do it now in the A/c or heat!
