Its usually around the 4" mark, but at the same time it all depends on your Jeep. My dad and I both have the same 4.5" lift, I had driveline vibes and had to put in a TCase drop until i can afford an SYE, he had no vibes at all.

The newer Cherokees are more picky, and usually require a SYE around 4-4.5" of lift (although every one is different). I've heard of older Cherokees getting up to 5.5"+ with just a TC drop. As far as control arms, those are a good idea with even a small amount of lift.

i put my 6.5 lift on and have minimal vibrations. i ordered my sye and lift at the same time, but ran out of time to put on the sye so i drove it w out for a few months. ive got it on now and it drives great w it and zero vibrations. Go long arm lift!

I have a 96 cherokee classic with a 6.5" lift, with just a transfer case drop and 4 degree rear axel shims and a 1.5" rear shackel with stock driveshaft and stock upper control arms and a fixed lower R.E. control arms and a rocky-road control arm drop kit. My transfer case had a 5 degree angle on the out put shaft and a 10 degree angel on the drive shaft when it was sitting at stock height. Now with the lift my transfer case out put shaft has a 7 degree angel and the drive shaft has a 12 degree ange so only gained 2 degrees toward each. I have no drive line vibes. I will eventually install an sye, but at this moment I don't need one.
